Kalshi, a prediction market platform, is preparing to file an application with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for approval of a crude oil-linked perpetual futures contract without an expiration date.

The filing is expected as early as next week and would be the first oil-based perpetual futures to trade on a regulated U.S. market if approved.

The contract, linked to WTI (West Texas Intermediate), the international benchmark for crude oil prices, will operate 24 hours a day, five days a week, with trading halted on weekends.
