Karachi Flour Prices Capped at Rs. 130 per Kilogram

The Commissioner of Karachi has taken steps to address the sharp increase in flour prices in the city. A meeting was held between the Commissioner and the Flour Mills Association, where it was agreed that wheat would be supplied at lower prices without interruption.

Following this agreement, flour mills have reduced the ex-mill price of No. 2.5 flour by Rs. 3 per kilogram, fixing it at Rs. 130 per kilogram. This change is effective from today and applies to all flour mills across the city.

The price of wheat has also fallen to Rs. 121 per kilogram, leading to a reduction in flour prices. It's worth noting that the Flour Mills Association had previously increased flour prices arbitrarily, with No. 2.5 flour rising by Rs. 24 per kilogram and fine flour increasing by Rs. 31 per kilogram over the past three months.

However, if wheat prices rise further, there is a possibility that flour prices could increase again. The current price of mill-ground flour (chakki atta) has also increased by Rs. 20 to Rs. 25 per kilogram over the past three months.
