Karachi Flour Prices Soar Amid Wheat Cost Hike Demand

Karachi's wheat and flour prices have surged once again following a rise in wheat prices. Flour mills have increased the rates of fine and No. 2.5 flour, with No. 2.5 flour now costing Rs145 per kilogram at the mill level, up from Rs130. The retail price has reached up to Rs160 per kilogram.

Fine flour has also become more expensive, with its price increasing by Rs13 per kilogram, reaching Rs155 per kilogram at the mill level. Fine flour is being sold for up to Rs175 per kilogram in the retail market. The price of chakki flour has increased by Rs10 per kilogram and is now being sold for up to Rs180 per kilogram.

The price of wheat itself has also risen, reaching Rs130 per kilogram. Flour mills have stated that it's impossible to buy expensive wheat at the government-fixed rate, leading them to demand an immediate import of 2 million tonnes of wheat.
