Kathmandu Gas Crisis: Trucks Bring Relief Amid Road Blockage

The Kathmandu Valley is facing a gas supply crisis due to floods in China that have obstructed the Nagdhunga-Muglin road. In response, an alternative measure has been proposed to fill cylinders at industries outside Kathmandu and transport them via trucks using routes like Kantirajpath and Tribhuvan Rajpath.

A meeting was held in Hetauda with various stakeholders, including the Chief District Officer (CDO), Superintendent of Police (SP), and representatives from the Road Division, to discuss this plan. According to Nepal Oil Corporation Executive Director Nagendra Shah, preparations are underway to send gas-filled cylinders to the valley via trucks.

Shah mentioned that approximately 4,000 cylinders of gas bottled outside Kathmandu were brought to Kathmandu on Tuesday. The road obstruction is uncertain in duration, so transportation is being initiated in coordination with the local administration and entrepreneurs to prevent a gas shortage for consumers.
