Katy, TX Gets Bidirectional Header Upgrade as Gas Flows Soar
A new bidirectional header system is being built in Katy, TX to facilitate rising gas flows through the area. The Aspen Katy Hub project aims to ease the flow of gas through the increasingly important Katy Hub, which serves as a key aggregation and distribution point for gas bound for existing and planned Gulf Coast industrial and power-generation load, as well as a slew of LNG export terminals.
Massive volumes of mostly Permian-sourced natural gas are already converging on the Katy area just west of Houston. The Solitude Pipeline System, with a capacity of 4.5-Bcf/d, is one of several planned pipelines that will come online in the months and years ahead, further increasing gas flows through the area.
The new bidirectional header system will help to streamline gas flow through the Katy Hub, which currently experiences congestion due to high volumes of gas traffic.
