Kazakhstan Aims for 39 Million Tons in Oil Refining Capacity by 2040
Kazakhstan is set to increase its oil refining capacity from 18 million tons to 39 million tons by 2040, according to Nazym Bekbatyrova, head of the Oil Refining and Petroleum Products Production Department at Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy.
The development plan focuses on modernizing and expanding existing refineries, improving crude oil processing depth, enhancing petroleum product quality, and developing the petrochemical industry.
The strategy aims to boost annual oil refining volumes from 18 million tons to 39 million tons, while reducing the ratio of oil production to refining from 5:1 to 2.5:1.
The Ministry estimates that implementing this plan will require between $15 billion and $19 billion in investment, creating new jobs and strengthening the industry's scientific and technological base.
