Kazakhstan Explores Advanced Technologies to Boost Oil Production
Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) is exploring ways to improve production from mature oilfields. To this end, KMG met with Saudi Arabia's TAQA to discuss potential technologies for enhanced oil recovery.
The meeting focused on deploying advanced technologies to increase oil recovery rates in existing fields. According to the Ministry of Energy, a one-point increase in oil recovery could potentially add around 33 million tonnes of recoverable oil.
The companies discussed various technologies, including gas, chemical, thermal, and combined recovery methods, as well as polymer flooding and digital modeling. The goal is to identify solutions that can effectively work under the geological conditions of specific Kazakh fields.
