Kazakhstan to Triple Refining Capacity by 2040 Amid Fuel Output Boost
Kazakhstan aims to significantly boost its crude oil refining capacity by 2040. The country currently has an annual capacity of 18 million tons, which will be more than doubled through expansion and construction of a new major refinery.
The Energy Ministry's plan is part of the government's 2025-2040 strategy to increase fuel output and reduce reliance on imports for certain products.
By 2040, Kazakhstan expects to produce 29 million tons per year through existing capacity expansion and another 10 million tons from a new refinery. This will increase total refining capacity to 40 million tons annually.
