Kazakhstan's Linseed Exports Face EU Logistics Challenges
Kazakhstani linseed exports to the EU may face increased logistics costs due to disruptions in grain shipments through Azov-Black Sea ports.
Russian agricultural cargoes are being diverted to alternative routes, putting pressure on Baltic ports and overland corridors used by other exporters, including Kazakhstan. The redirection of Russian grain could increase congestion on northwestern rail routes and at Baltic ports, making it more expensive for Kazakh linseed exporters to reach the EU.
Kazakhstan's Grain Union expects stronger competition for rail and port capacity along routes to Europe, which may lead to higher transportation costs for Kazakh linseed. Meanwhile, linseed prices in Kazakhstan are declining due to a seasonal increase in supply, with EXW prices falling by KZT 5,000 to KZT 195,000-200,000/t ($427-438/t) over the past week.
The diversion of Russian agricultural cargoes and logistics disruptions could have far-reaching consequences for European buyers, making Kazakh linseed more expensive than its competitors.
