Kerala Seeks Reduced LPG Waiting Periods Ahead of Onam Festival

Kerala's Minister of Food and Civil Supplies Anoop Jacob has written to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, requesting a reduction in waiting periods for domestic cooking gas supply during Onam.

Currently, the waiting period is 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas. The Minister pointed out that this waiting period will disproportionately affect families during the festival season.

The Minister cited increased demand for LPG during Onam as a reason to reduce the waiting period, stating that households require more cooking gas than usual due to large gatherings of family members from afar.
