Kerch Strait Grain Terminal Targeted by Ukrainian Drones
Ukrainian drones have targeted Russia's Taman port on the Kerch Strait, causing significant damage to a major grain export terminal operated by Demetra, one of Russia's largest agricultural firms.
The terminal has a capacity of 5 million metric tons and is an important hub for Russian grain exports. Shipping in the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait has been halted since July 10 due to drone attacks on more than 100 vessels.
This disruption has had a significant impact on Russia's grain exports, with forecasts suggesting that Russia's July wheat exports will drop by around 30% year-on-year to 1.5 million tons, the lowest level since 2017.
