KGHM Copper Prices Fuel Q2 Earnings Boost Amid Ambitious Investment Plans
KGHM, a Polish copper and silver producer, has reported improved second-quarter results thanks to record copper prices. During May, copper traded above $14,000, with an average price of approximately $13,390 in the second quarter. High silver prices also provided a tailwind for the company.
Analysts surveyed by Bloomberg had predicted KGHM would generate around PLN 12.59 billion in quarterly revenue, PLN 3.82 billion in adjusted EBITDA, and PLN 1.62 billion in net profit. These figures represent a significant improvement from the same quarter last year, when KGHM reported PLN 8.6 billion in revenue and PLN 249 million in net profit.
The company's long-term investment strategy is expected to be discussed at Thursday's management meeting. KGHM plans to invest at least PLN 32 billion over the next five years as it develops new mining projects and considers potential acquisitions.
