Khan's Saudi Visit to Bolster Ties, Focus on Green Initiative
Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to Saudi Arabia is expected to boost relations between the two countries, according to his special aide on the Middle East, Tahir Ashrafi. The trip, which has been invited by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, will give 'a new dimension and impetus' to Pakistani-Saudi ties, said Ashrafi after meeting with Saudi envoy Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki.
Ashrafi described the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as 'eternal,' citing their 'brotherly' bond. He also highlighted Saudi Arabia's role as a center of unity and solidarity for the Muslim Ummah, saying that 'the hearts of entire Muslim Ummah beat with the Harmain Al-Sharifain.'
The visit is expected to focus on increasing Pakistan's cooperation in the Saudi Green Initiative, a massive regional tree-planting project launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This initiative is part of his Vision 2030 plan to reduce reliance on oil revenues and improve quality of life.
