KL Stocks Predicted to Fluctuate in Narrow Range Next Week
Kuala Lumpur's stock market is expected to experience a slight bearish bias next week, according to Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd's vice-president of equity research Thong Pak Leng. He forecasted that the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures will trade within the range of 1,690 to 1,720.
Investors are likely to remain cautious due to developments in West Asia, crude oil prices, and the impact of US trade policies on market sentiment. This uncertainty is expected to lead to selective buying interest, with energy and plantation stocks benefiting from higher commodity prices. Defensively-oriented sectors such as utilities and telecommunications may continue to attract interest.
The FBM KLCI futures contracts ended mostly lower last week, with the July 2026 contract falling 35.0 points to 1,702.0 and the August 2026 contract declining 34.5 points to 1,702.5. The September 2026 and December 2026 contracts lost 34.0 points each to 1,682.0 and 1,684.5, respectively.
