Korean Central Bank Invests in Gold After 13-Year Absence
The Bank of Korea (BOK) has made its first gold investment in 13 years, holding over $250 million worth of shares in a U.S.-listed gold ETF.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the BOK disclosed it held 679,765 shares of SPDR Gold Trust, one of the most widely traded gold ETFs in the United States, as of the end of the second quarter.
The value of these shares is approximately $250.4 million at a price per share of around $400.
