KOSPI Index Rebounds from 4% Plunge on Stabilizing Yields and Oil Prices
The KOSPI index in South Korea rebounded after plummeting over 4% intraday, finishing at 6,742.74 on September 25th.
This recovery was fueled by stabilizing long-term yields and oil prices, which eased due to expectations of expanded Treasury buybacks and a reduced risk of military conflict with Iran.
Analyst Han Ji-young attributed the market's rise to bargain-hunting inflows into semiconductor stocks like Micron and Nvidia, as well as falling interest rates and oil prices driven by weak consumer confidence data.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.3%, the S&P 500 gained 0.3%, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.7% on September 25th, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index climbed 1.4%.
