KP Government Releases 2000 Tonne Wheat Daily to Ease Flour Prices
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has begun releasing 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat daily from its strategic reserves to flour mills in an effort to lower prices.
According to Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Food Dr Mohammad Israr Khan, the provincial government is supplying 20,000 bags of wheat, each weighing 100 kilograms, to improve the availability of cheaper flour.
The price of a 20kg flour bag has been fixed at Rs2,520, and Dr Israr urged consumers to monitor the quality of flour produced from government-supplied wheat and report any substandard product to the authorities.
Dr Israr accused the Punjab government of restricting the inter-provincial movement of wheat and flour in violation of Article 151 of the Constitution, which he claimed has contributed to higher flour prices nationwide.
