KP Govt Maintains Daily Wheat Release Amid Flour Price Stability Concerns
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to maintain its daily wheat release of 2,000 metric tons to active flour mills across the province. The move aims to keep the supply of flour stable and ensure that citizens have access to affordable bread.
According to the Food Department, 20,000 wheat bags weighing 100 kilograms each are being supplied daily to flour mills. A 20-kilogram bag of government flour is being provided to citizens at Rs2,520 through selected dealers.
The department has been monitoring the quality of wheat and flour closely, with teams from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority and the Food Department regularly inspecting wheat stores and flour mills. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food Dr Muhammad Israr Khan warned that any substandard flour would result in cancellation of government quotas and legal action against the mill.
Dr Khan also criticized the Punjab government's policies, stating that restrictions on inter-provincial trade were driving up flour prices across the country. He assured citizens that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was committed to providing quality and affordable flour.
