KP Govt Releases 2,000 Metric Tons of Wheat Daily Amid Flour Price Hike

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has started releasing 2,000 metric tons of wheat daily from its provincial strategic reserves to combat rising prices in the province.

Special Assistant to KP on Food Dr Muhammad Israr Khan stated that 20,000 bags of wheat are being supplied to flour mills every day to ensure affordable flour availability. The provincial government has fixed a 20-kilogram flour bag price at Rs2,520 and urged consumers to monitor the quality of flour produced from government-supplied wheat.

KP authorities claim that Punjab's policies have contributed to rising flour prices nationwide by imposing restrictions on inter-provincial wheat and flour movement in violation of Article 151 of the Constitution. They also accuse the Punjab district administration and police of accepting bribes for allowing consignments destined for KP, affecting the supply of essential food commodities.
