Ksi Lisims LNG Secures Major Deal with Uniper
Ksi Lisims LNG has secured a major long-term deal to supply liquefied natural gas to German energy company Uniper. The agreement, announced on July 29, will see Uniper purchase two million tonnes per year (Mtpa) of LNG from the proposed floating facility north of Prince Rupert.
The project, which has been designated a priority by the federal government's major projects office, still awaits a final investment decision. However, the deal with Uniper brings the total contracted capacity to 7 Mtpa, out of a projected 12 Mtpa total capacity. The backers of the project are seeking commitments for 80-90% of capacity for a final investment decision.
Nisga'a Nation president Eva Clayton said the deal reflects her Nation's 'Common Bowl' philosophy, which teaches that everyone is interdependent and should share their abundance with others.
