Ksi Lisims LNG has signed a formal agreement to supply liquefied natural gas to German utility Uniper for up to 20 years. The deal marks the first major long-term LNG supply agreement between Canada and Germany.

Uniper will purchase two million tonnes of LNG per year, with deliveries expected to start in 2032. The agreement was signed after a letter of interest was announced last month outlining key commercial terms for the supply deal.

The $30 billion Ksi Lisims project is planned for the northern British Columbia coast and would be Canada's second-largest LNG facility. It has the potential to represent 13 per cent of Canada's total natural gas exports by the early-to-mid 2030s.
