Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have agreed to boost oil production at their joint Wafra field in the Neutral Zone.

A virtual meeting of a joint committee established half a century ago to manage the oil-rich area discussed plans to increase output, with a focus on using modern technologies.

The Kuwaiti oil ministry said the talks covered obstacles to implementing the plans and ways to enhance efficiency at Wafra, which has been producing between 150,000 and 250,000 barrels per day since its restart in 2020.

Undersecretary Sheikh Nimr Al-Sabah noted that the committee reviewed a budget for fiscal year 2027 and discussed development plans, including expanding operations and developing deposits.
