Kuwait Seeks Alternative Oil Pipeline Amid Hormuz Blockade

Kuwait is working on a plan to build a new oil export pipeline that would bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which has been blocked by Iran's military actions. According to Kuwaiti Oil Minister Tariq Sulaiman Al-Roumi, the country is in talks with Saudi Arabia and other Arab neighbors to develop this project.

The proposed route could either connect Kuwait through Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea or Oman, or link it directly to the UAE's Fujairah port. Al-Roumi described the project as 'huge' and emphasized that the goal is to find the most cost-effective option.

Kuwait has been unable to export oil since Iran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global energy supplies. The minister stated that rebuilding damaged oil storage tanks would take at least a year.
