LA Gas Prices Hit New Yearly High Amid Ongoing Middle East Tensions
Los Angeles and Orange County gas prices have risen for the fourth consecutive day, according to the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in LA County increased by 1.1 cents on Saturday to $5.664. This is the highest price seen this late in the calendar year, with Patrick De Haan from GasBuddy noting that the national average price has reached its highest amount at this time.
The Orange County average price also rose by 1.1 cents to $5.607, making it 2.5 cents more than one week ago and 6.8 cents more than one month ago. Kandace Redd from the Automobile Club of Southern California warned that gas prices remain volatile, advising motorists to look for ways to stretch their fuel dollars.
The national average price dropped by seven-tenths of a cent to $4.102 after four consecutive increases. Crude oil prices are approaching the $90 per barrel range due to ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East and Strait of Hormuz.
