Labor Day Travelers Face Record-Setting Gas Prices Amid Ongoing Iran Conflict
Motorists heading out on Labor Day vacations will face record-setting gas prices, according to AAA Motor Club. The conflict with Iran continues to drive up crude oil prices, which remain above $80 a barrel.
The highest gas prices ever are expected for motorists in the Evergreen State, with Walla Walla County averaging $5.37 per gallon of regular unleaded. This is also the statewide average, making it the most expensive gas in the state.
Gas stations in the Columbia Basin and northeastern Oregon have prices just under $5 a gallon for regular unleaded, except in two locations where it's slightly higher or lower. Union County averages $5.05 per gallon of regular unleaded, while Umatilla County's average price is $4.84.
Summer gas blends are running low as refineries prepare to switch to winter blend, which may add to the supply and demand imbalance driving up prices.
