Lavrov Blames US for Nord Stream Pipeline Sabotage Bid
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the US of seeking control over the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, which were damaged by a mysterious explosion in September 2022.
The explosions severed Russian gas transit to Europe and have been attributed to an act of sabotage. Investigators identified a Ukrainian suspect last year who was arrested in Italy on suspicion of coordinating the attacks.
Lavrov stated that the US is striving for global energy market dominance, citing Venezuela's oil reserves as evidence. He also mentioned Iran, without providing further details about the Nord Stream pipelines.
