Lawmakers Seek Answers on Ohio Farm Conditions

Ohio lawmakers held a special session at the state fairgrounds to discuss the state of Ohio's farms. According to Ohio Farm Bureau Executive Vice President Adam Sharp, the next couple of weeks will determine a lot for the state's farmers.

'If we get good rains in August, that could make a big difference,' Sharp said. 'Last two years have been really dry; hopefully this year it'll be better.'

Sharp also mentioned that livestock is doing somewhat better than crops, with cattle herds in Ohio and across the country at record lows, driving up the price of beef while demand remains high.

Jed Bower, a Fayette County farmer and president of the National Corn Growers Association, said this season might be better. 'Things are looking pretty good this year and we needed that,' Bower said.
