LBMA Survey: Analysts Predict Gold Prices Will Reach $4,500 by Year-End
The London Gems Markets Association (LBMA) has released its mid-year survey of gold price forecasts for the remainder of 2026. Among the 16 participating analysts, the average prediction is around $4,500 per ounce by the end of the year.
The highest forecasted price at year-end is $5,100 per ounce, while the lowest is $3,879 per ounce. This range reflects the uncertainty in the market and the potential for significant fluctuations in gold prices.
The survey was conducted in July 2026, a time of strong volatility in the gold market. In the first seven months of the year, gold prices reached an all-time high of $5,501.70 per ounce on January 29 but fell to a yearly low of $3,978.55 per ounce on July 1.
The LBMA noted that analysts' expectations have adjusted to better reflect market conditions. The average forecast for the whole year is around $4,604 per ounce, with forecasts for the second half of the year ranging from $4,872 to $5,800 per ounce. This shows that while there is a consensus around a price of around $4,500 per ounce at year-end, analysts still anticipate significant fluctuations.
