Live Oak E-Methane Project Advances with FEED Launch
TotalEnergies and its partner TES have launched front-end engineering design (FEED) activities for their Live Oak e-methane project in Nebraska, US. The project aims to produce electric natural gas (e-NG), also known as e-methane, by combining hydrogen produced through electrolysis with CO2 captured from bioethanol plants.
The FEED work will be conducted by KBR and Tecnicas Reunidas, who were selected through a competitive process. The project's partners include Japanese firms Osaka Gas, Toho Gas, and Itochu, which have a combined 33.3% stake in the Live Oak project.
The partners plan to start execution in 2027 and achieve commercial operations by 2030. Once operational, the Live Oak facility will supply low-carbon gas to customers in Japan, leveraging existing US natural gas and LNG infrastructure for exports.
