LNG Canada Exceeds Expectations with 100th LNG Cargo Shipment

LNG Canada has reached a significant milestone in Canadian energy history by shipping its 100th liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from its export terminal in Kitimat, British Columbia. This achievement comes less than a year after the facility loaded Canada's first large-scale LNG export cargo in June 2025.

The project has been a major investment for Canada, with an approximate cost of $40 billion. It is operated by LNG Canada Development Inc., a joint venture consisting of Shell (40%), PETRONAS (25%), PetroChina (15%), Mitsubishi Corporation (15%), and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) (5%).

LNG Canada's 100th cargo milestone highlights the project's strong operational performance since exports began. The facility has provided a significant competitive advantage for Canadian natural gas by offering direct access to Pacific markets, shorter shipping routes to Asia, and avoiding congestion costs associated with the Panama Canal.
