LNG Exports Plateau in July Amid Shifts in Global Demand
US natural gas exports via liquefied natural gas (LNG) remained relatively stable in July, reaching about 10.26 million tonnes (Mt), a slight increase from June but still below the first-half average of 10.51 Mt. Europe played a significant role in this growth, with deliveries rising by 12.6% to approximately 4.15 Mt, marking the continent's first monthly gain since March.
Meanwhile, shipments to Asia eased to about 3.88 Mt, while Africa saw a decline to 1.32 Mt from 1.75 Mt in June, following Egypt's surge. Volumes to the Americas continued their upward trend for the fourth consecutive month, reaching 0.92 Mt, with Chile and Brazil leading US exports to the region.
Notably, US LNG exports to China more than tripled in July, increasing by 124% to approximately 0.16 Mt from 0.07 Mt in June, marking the highest monthly total since November 2024.
