LNG Facility in Huntersville Holds Millions for Proposed Power Plant
The Piedmont Natural Gas facility in Huntersville has a storage tank holding approximately 12.2 million gallons of liquefied natural gas.
A similar plant proposed in Davidson County would include 2 to 3 tanks of the same size, supporting a proposed Duke Energy combined-cycle power plant across the Yadkin River in Davie County.
Tony Bridges, plant manager, led a tour of the facility on July 22, 2026, accompanied by Ryan Smith, general manager of gas storage redelivery and optimization, Jason Wheatley, spokesperson for Piedmont Natural Gas, and Bill Norton, spokesperson for Duke Energy.
