LNG Market Resilience Takes Center Stage at Gastech 2026
A recent gathering of senior gas executives at Gastech 2026 shed light on the current state of the LNG market, which is facing supply disruptions, low inventories, high prices, and growing demand for flexibility.
For ADNOC's Chief Marketing & Origination Officer (LNG) Rashid Al Mazrouei, resilience in this industry depends on the ability to manoeuvre, particularly with long-term contracts and diversified suppliers playing a crucial role in maintaining security of supply.
Eni's Guido Brusco emphasized geographical diversification as another key defense against market shocks. He noted that Eni has expanded its focus beyond Africa into the Middle East and South America to build a broader international footprint.
The panel also discussed the scale of forthcoming supply, with ExxonMobil Upstream SVP LNG Peter Clarke highlighting 18 million tonnes from the Golden Pass facility and an additional 6 million tonnes from Papua New Guinea. However, he cautioned that additional supply will not immediately resolve current market constraints.
