LNG Prices Plummet as Egypt Emerges as Top US Export Destination
US liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices have fallen to $11,750 per day at the Atlantic spot market. The drop in LNG rates is a welcome relief for buyers who had been facing high costs due to strong demand and limited supply.
Egypt has emerged as the top destination for US LNG cargoes in June, with Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRU)-based import terminals receiving the most shipments. This shift in demand patterns indicates that Asia is becoming a preferred destination for US LNG exports over Europe, marking a significant change since September 2024.
In related news, Expion Energy has acquired an oil and gas exploration opportunity in Louisiana, expanding its operations into the sector. The company aims to capture rising demand driven by power generation needs, industrial growth, and long-term expansion of LNG markets.
