Logistical Bottlenecks Weigh on Moldovan Barley Prices Amid Record Harvest

Moldovan barley prices have taken a hit due to weak demand and logistical constraints. Despite the early start of the 2026/27 marketing season, prices in Moldova ranged between 2.9 and 3.0 lei per kilogram in July.

The first export shipment of the new crop at the end of June was sold at 3.19 lei/kg, below last year's opening price of 3.40 lei/kg.

Moldova exported 559 tons of new-crop barley during the final week of June, all handled by AVVATERRA-SM under DAP Reni terms with Cyprus as the final destination.

Market analysts attribute the lower starting price to expectations of a bumper harvest and the broader decline in regional grain prices.
