Loonie Fades as Crude Oil Prices Continue Decline
The Canadian dollar weakened slightly on Wednesday, closing at US$0.7207 or C$1 = US$1.3876.
This represents a slight dip from Tuesday's rate of US$0.7226 or C$1 = US$1.3839.
Crude oil prices continued to decline, with West Texas Intermediate falling by US$0.45 per barrel to US$81.91 and Brent crude erasing US$1.13/barrel at US$87.45.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index also experienced a loss, dropping 143.98 points to close at 36,813.65 after setting an all-time high earlier in the day at 37,069.11.
