Lucille Lussier, a 94-year-old resident of Olds, Alberta, passed away on August 16, 2026, at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. Born on July 31, 1932, in St. Boniface, Manitoba, she was the fifth child in a family of eleven.

Lussier grew up in Haywood, Manitoba, where she attended school until grade 8 before completing her education in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. In 1950, due to a teacher shortage, she took a six-week Teacher Training Course and then taught at a country school for one year.

She later attended Normal School and began her teaching career in St. Rose do Lac, where she met her future husband, Eric Lussier. They married in 1956 and followed the 'oil patch' to Saskatchewan and British Columbia before settling in Olds in 1960.

Lussier returned to teaching at Olds Elementary School in 1963, a position she held for 24 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, volunteering, crafting, and playing the piano.
