Lucknow Jewellers See Rush as Sisters Opt for Precious-Metal Rakhis

Raksha Bandhan is around the corner, and Lucknow's jewellery markets are witnessing a surge in demand for precious-metal rakhis. The traditional threads are being replaced by gold, silver, platinum, and diamond rakhis.

Metro cities like Lucknow often see a mix of traditional and modern designs, but this year is no exception. At Chowk market, customer Pooja Rawat purchased three 10gm silver rakhis for her brothers, saying it made the upcoming family celebration more special.

The vice-president of Chowk Sarrafa Association, Adesh Jain, said gold, silver, and diamond rakhis are witnessing robust demand this year. He added that customers are opting for lightweight jewellery items for sisters and exclusive customised designs.

A customer even got a Rs 2.75 lakh diamond rakhi customised for her brother, while another bought a 12gm gold rakhi embedded with an evil-eye motif, an 8gm gold bracelet rakhi, and an 8gm rudraksh silver rakhi for her brother.

Silver rakhis are selling like hot cakes, priced between Rs 250 and Rs 35,000. Diamond-studded rakhis, personalised name engravings, and sleek lightweight designs are drawing buyers across age groups.
