Malaysian Rubber Market Anticipated to Rise on Strong Demand
The Malaysian rubber market is poised for growth this week due to strong demand and supply constraints. According to the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (Margma), demand from China, which has pledged additional fiscal policy measures to support economic growth, will be a major driver of prices.
Furthermore, demand for premium and sustainably sourced natural rubber is expected to increase as Malaysian glove manufacturers prioritize traceability and sustainability under the European Union Deforestation Regulation requirements.
Industry expert Denis Low forecasts that the market will trend slightly higher next week due to potential restocking demand from China and firmer crude oil prices. He notes that sizeable dry rubber replenishment in China could provide upward momentum if buying volumes are substantial, while higher oil prices may also support natural rubber prices.
Supply and demand remain relatively balanced, but foreign exchange volatility and adverse weather in major producing regions could influence prices. The Malaysian Rubber Board's reference price for Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 increased by 38 sen to 947.0 sen per kilogramme, while latex in bulk decreased by nine sen to 679.5 sen per kilogramme.
