Malaysia's LNG Exports Shield Economy from Hormuz Crisis Impact
Malaysia's economy is better equipped to handle the disruption in oil supplies due to the ongoing crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
The country remains a net importer of oil but its role as a major exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) provides a crucial buffer against supply shocks.
Johari warned that the Strait of Hormuz is a critical artery for the global energy sector, and disruptions there have far-reaching consequences for international industries.
The Strait facilitates around 20% of the world's total oil supply, but Malaysia's LNG exports will help cushion the blow of any potential shortages.
