Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has entered the final stretch of his six-year term, focusing on pressing issues such as electricity, food, healthcare, and security. In his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), he highlighted various initiatives to address the concerns of Filipino citizens.

The President emphasized that system loss charges in the country's power distribution should be scrapped, affecting 26.47 million households and consumers who pay around $141 per year. He called for a review of nuclear energy production, considering its potential benefits, as the Philippines has the highest electricity prices in the region.

Marcos also announced several economic relief packages to cushion the impact of global economic uncertainty and high oil prices. These measures include tax cuts, subsidies, lower power costs, and stronger food and energy security. The government aims to provide assistance to around 7.5 million Filipino families through various programs such as subsidized rice, low-cost rice, and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
