Markets Fluctuate on August 27 Amid Corn Price Declines
Closing markets for Thursday, August 27 saw significant movements in various commodity futures and crop prices.
Corn Futures on the Chicago Board of Trade took a hit, with September's price down 6 cents to $5.08 per bushel, while December's price fell by 5 cents to $5.31 per bushel.
Soybean Futures also declined, with November down 2 cents at $12.63 and January falling by the same amount to $12.78 per bushel.
On a more positive note, Wheat Futures saw an increase, with December's price rising by 9 cents to $7.58 per bushel, while March rose by 8 cents to $7.73 per bushel.
Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle Futures also showed gains, with October's Live Cattle up by 212 points at $212.90 per hundredweight, December's price increasing by 217 points to $214.75 per hundredweight, September's Feeder Cattle rising by 355 points to $322.55 per hundredweight, and October's Feeder Cattle climbing by 400 points to $318.25 per hundredweight.
Crop prices at Wanstead Farmers Co-operative showed a mixed picture, with 2026 Crop Corn down 3 cents to $6.74 per bushel, while 2027 Crop Corn fell by 8 cents to $6.46 per bushel. 2026 Crop Soybeans rose by 2 cents to $16.68 per bushel, but 2027 Crop Soybeans only increased by 1 cent to $15.57 per bushel.
The Ontario Pork Reports showed a drop in U-S CME price, falling by 8 cents to $92.38 per hundredweight, dressed weight. However, the 100% formula price rose by 41 cents to $232.08 per hundred kilograms, dressed weight.
