Markets Plummet on Rate Hike Fears and Wildfires

The markets are experiencing a downturn due to concerns about potential interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. Major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana have seen significant losses, with Bitcoin falling 2.8% to $63,130, Ethereum down 3.5% to $1,877, XRP shedding 3.6% to $1.05, and Solana down 4.1% to $72.80.

Analyst Stephen Coltman of 21shares attributes the losses to 'an ongoing deleveraging in the tech sector' and anxiety over a possible rate hike. The shelving of the Clarity Act by the U.S. Senate has also contributed to market unease.

Another area of concern is Europe's recent heatwaves and wildfires, which could put pressure on food supplies and lead to higher prices for wheat, barley, and corn. Economist Ion Jauregui of Activtrades estimates that grain farmer revenue losses may reach $2 billion, affecting household spending and inflation.
