Marno de Jong Departs as Shell EVP After Six Years
Shell Companies in Nigeria has bid farewell to outgoing Executive Vice President and Country Chair Marno de Jong, who led Shell businesses in Nigeria for over six years. Stakeholders from government, the energy industry, and professional bodies celebrated his achievements at a send-off ceremony.
According to CEO of Shell PLC Wael Sawan, 'The way Marno drives performance is admirable.' Minister of Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole commended Shell's investments during Marno's tenure, aligning with the Nigerian Government's Renewed Hope agenda. Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited Bayo Ojulari expressed his appreciation for helping advance the vision of positioning gas as energy for Nigerians.
Marno de Jong is credited with several milestones in his tenure, including divestment from onshore oil production and sustained production at Bonga, resulting in one billion barrels of oil. His colleagues praised him for being a leader 'who led from his heart.'
