Massachusetts Gas Prices Soar Amid Middle East Tensions

Gas prices in Massachusetts have surged by 13 cents per gallon to $4.34, according to recent data, as tensions in the Middle East disrupt global energy supplies. The average price is now more than $1 higher than at the same time last year.

The increase follows crude oil pushing back above $100 per barrel, with global supply concerns intensified due to blockades and attacks on key transportation routes and infrastructure in the region.

Mark Schieldrop, senior spokesperson for AAA Northeast, described the pipeline outage as 'a big hit to oil and gas markets,' accounting for about 5% of the world's daily needs. He warned that driver costs could rise further if supply conditions do not improve.
