As Iowa's Fourth Congressional District prepares for the November election, Republican candidate Chris McGowan is outlining his positions on key issues. Currently serving as president of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce and The Siouxland Initiative, McGowan will face Democrat Dave Dawson on November 3.

McGowan supports free and fair trade, but acknowledges that tariffs have created difficulties for farmers and value-added agricultural businesses. He suggests examining whether new tariffs can apply only to future agreements rather than changing the cost of previously negotiated deals.

On agriculture, McGowan prioritizes nationwide, year-round access to E15, which has passed the House and is awaiting Senate action. Expanding ethanol demand would provide another domestic market for Iowa corn at a time when farmers are facing low commodity prices, expensive inputs, and increased international competition.
