MCX Gold Falls to ₹1.55 Lakh Amid Global Economic Uncertainty
Gold and silver futures in India declined on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) gold for October delivery fell to around ₹1.55 lakh per 10 grams, while silver futures for December delivery dropped over 1% to trade near ₹2.35 lakh per kilogram.
The price correction follows a period of strong gains, leading many traders to book profits. The current global weakness is driven by uncertainty regarding the United States Federal Reserve's future interest rate path.
Rising crude oil prices have added complexity to the market. Higher oil costs tend to stoke inflation fears globally, which can put pressure on gold as it struggles to compete with high-interest-bearing investments.
