Gold prices surged past Rs 1.63 lakh per 10 grams on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) in early trade on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The high price was due to increased demand for gold in the domestic futures market, with MCX Gold, due to expire on October 5, 2026, trading at Rs 163346 per 10 grams, up Rs 908 or 0.56 per cent from last closing of Rs 1,62,438.

Silver prices, however, declined slightly amid subdued spot demand, with MCX Silver, September 4 expiry, quoted at Rs 2,45,740, down Rs 857 or 0.35 per cent from last closing of Rs 2,46,597 per kilogram.
