MCX Natural Gas Prices Slip Amid Record US Production
Natural gas futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) are trading lower at ₹276.1 per mmBtu as of August 31, 2026, after a recent surge in prices.
The decline is due to record production data from the US Lower 48 states, which has hit an average of 111.4 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in August 2026.
New infrastructure developments, such as additional pipeline capacity in Texas, have eased supply concerns and put downward pressure on global pricing.
The current price decline is also linked to traders booking profits after the recent gains, which had reached a five-week high of ₹286 driven by trading momentum.
If the contract fails to maintain its immediate support level at ₹270, there's a risk that the price could move toward the next support zone of ₹257 to ₹260.
