Silver futures prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) fell sharply to Rs 2.19 lakh per kg in September delivery contracts, down by Rs 817 or 0.37% from the previous day's close.

The decline was attributed to participants reducing their bets on silver, with analysts noting that a sell-off weighed heavily on prices.

Globally, silver was trading at USD 58.57 per ounce in New York, down by 0.70%.

The MCX saw a business turnover of 456 lots in the September delivery contracts.
